Personal details:
Gordon first started playing curling at Kirkcaldy Ice Rink, now Fife Ice Arena, back in 1984 as something fun to do on a Sunday morning with the junior curling club Fife Young Curlers. After having to leave the club due to being too "old" he joined Thornton Curling Club (mother club) in the East of Fife Province in Area 10 and has had good success in both club and province leagues.
Gordon has had the honour of being his mother club's President three times and also being the East of Fife Province President once, he is currently his mother club's secretary.
Gordon is also a member of Markinch Curling Club which is also in the East of Fife Province.
Gordon has worked for 38 years in the ship build and ship overhaul division within the marine sector of Babcock International Group, working his way up from an electrical apprentice, to an electrical draughtsman, to a senior electrical designer and then finishing as a system design and installation project manager before taking early retirement in 2023.
Since Gordon retired, he is now a qualified level 1 curling coach, teaching the next generation of curlers to our great game, ranging from primary school pupils to adults including inclusive groups and those with disabilities.
Gordon was born in Kirkcaldy which is also known as the Lang Toun which is in the Kingdom of Fife, he is married to Avril and has one daughter, Caitlin, who also plays curling for the same clubs.
